Small Business Inventory
Control Pro
Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I
import data from an existing data source?
Yes! You are allowed to import Vendors, Items,
and Customers from an external data source, such
as a Microsoft Access database, Excel
spreadsheet, DBASE database, or text file. Use
the import feature under the File menu.
I want to
run this software on a network. Is this possible?
SBIC uses a Microsoft Access database as its main
project file. This means that all the data is
able to be accessed by multiple users. The
program can be accessed from a server or be
installed directly onto the workstations.
Is there a
limit on the number of Items, Vendors, or
Customer I can have in my inventory project?
The only real limit is based on you workstation.
Obviously, larger inventories require more
memory, storage space and are more processor
intensive.
I have
Items I assemble myself from other items, or I
have a Kit where I bundle items together. Can I
track these items with SBIC?
Yes! You can make a distinction between items
that are physically assembled from other items
and items that are simply sold in a bundle
together. For the assembled items, you can choose
to Assemble or Disassemble the items at any time
and the stock counts are updated for all the
subitems automatically.
Several
people in my office use the same computer. Do I
need to purchase a license for each user?
No. You need only purchase a license for each
machine the software will be run on.
Does SBIC
work with bar-code scanners?
Yes. Because many barcode scanners emulate
keystrokes, they can be used with SBIC. The Pro
version of SBIC offers an optional interface mode
geared more toward item input via barcode
scanners and is therefore much more barcode
reader friendly than the standard version.
How much
does technical support cost?
Currently, all technical support for this product
is free and is supplied via email
(support@rytechsoftware.com). Please see the
technical support guidelines before submitting a
question.
I want to
purchase multiple copies of your software for our
office. Am I eligible for a discount?
Discounts for multiple copies apply in certain
cases. These arrangements are worked out on an
individual basis.
Can SBIC
use serial-numbers for tracking items?
Yes. Version 5.5 adds the capability to track
serialized items.
I have
entered items, vendors, and customers, but I do
not see anything in the list. What happened?
Check the Display All Records at Root toggle
under the Settings menu. Make sure it is toggled
on if you wish to see the listing.
Do you
offer special rates for educational institutions?
In some circumstances, we do offer a special rate
for educational purposes only. These arrangements
are worked out on an individual basis.
Can SBIC
display international currencies and dates?
SBIC will use your current system settings to
determine currency and date format. These
settings can be changed in the Windows Control
Panel.
What
operating systems do you support?
Currently supported operating systems are Windows
98, ME, Windows NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.
How do I
keep informed of updates to SBIC?
It is always a good idea to keep an eye on our
website (www.rytechsoftware.com) for all the
latest updates and features. For major updates to
the software, we usually send an e-mail, if
possible, to our customers notifying them of the
upgrade.
I am
having trouble viewing the documentation...why?
Our new documentation format (HTML-Help) requires
that you must have Microsoft Internet Explorer
4.0 or better installed on your machine. This
format of help file is quickly becoming the
standard. It opens up many possibilities for
keeping up-to-date information in the hands of
our customer. If you do not have IE 4.0 or better
installed on your machine, it can be downloaded
for free from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie.
